All the games will be played at the Carleton Heights Curling Club. There will be four pools of four and we will run a round robin. As this is an integrated event, so I have tried to balance these the best I can with pools with two boys teams in two of the pools and one in each of the other pools. The main objective is that everyone will have fun and will get some games in early (four games guaranteed). The top two in each pool will go the main event, the bottom two to the second event. Ties will be decided first by head to head and then by shootout scores. Shootouts will be performed after the third game of the round robin games, if necessary. The shootout scoring will be: each of the four players on the team will throw one rock points wil be awarded as follows: cover the pin hole: 6 piece of button: 4 piece of 4': 3 piece of 8': 2 piece of 12': 1 The games will not be timed, but officials will be watching the games and in the case of slow play will talk to the coach and then will go out and encourage the players to play faster. We have a busy day and cannot have games go over the two hour time limit. Tie games during the round robin on the Saturday will be decided by a one rock shootout with sweeping, but no sweeping by the opposing team. Extra ends will be played on the Sunday. There will be one timeout allowed per team, but I encourage teams to make this fast. Remember under the new rule clocks do not stop during timeouts, so please try to stay within that spirit of the timeouts They should not cause the games to be delayed, they should be use to speed up the game when there is indecision on the part of the teams that is delaying the games. The draw times will be: Pools 1 and 2: 8:30, 1:15, 6:00 Pools 3 and 4: 10:45, 3:30, 8:15 Sunday: Quarter finals 2nd event: 8:30 Quarter finals main event: 10:45 Semi finals both events: 2:00 Finals: 5:00 The pools are: 1: Duhaime, Cormier, Horton, Boisvert 2. As we did last year, this will be an integrated event with boys and girls teams playing each other. This is partly due to the fact that there are an uneven number of teams from each gender this year. The teams are: Boys teams: Duhaime, Cormier, Byrd, J. Camm. McCrady, and M. Camm Girls teams in: Boisvert, Gannon, Harrington, Horton, Edge, Davies, Fortier, McNiven, Polak and MacLeod. The waiting list is: Ferrier (b) Wilson (g) Beebe (g) Vietch (b) There will likely be pools that have boys and girls teams in them due to the 6/10 balance. For those who need a hotel, we have an agreement with the same hotel that has proved popular in the past, the Cariier Inn and Suites on 180 Cooper. The rates are $125 for a one bedroom suite and $135 for a two bedroom. The # is 1-800-236-8399. You have to say "Rideau Junior Icebreaker - September". I know this is not the Icebreaker, but this rate was discussed for the two spiels and it was easier to do it this way. Draw times and pools to follow shortly. |
